In the Hands of the great Physician
How Faith, Healing, and Gratitude Transformed My Surgery Experience
Introduction: Trusting God in Uncertainty
Life often presents challenges that test our faith. When I was diagnosed with gallstones and told I needed surgery, I knew this was a moment to trust God completely. Instead of succumbing to fear, I chose to lean on His promises and prepare my heart for a journey of healing and gratitude.
Preparing for Surgery: A Prayer of Faith
The morning of my surgery, I began with a heartfelt prayer:
"Heavenly Father, thank You for revealing this condition. I trust You as my Chief Surgeon, Anesthesiologist, and Healer. Sanctify every tool, monitor, and hand that will care for me. Let Your presence fill the operating room."
This prayer gave me peace and reminded me that God was in control
Entering the Operating Room: Peace Amidst the Process
As the medical team prepared me for surgery, I silently thanked God for the wisdom and skill He had given them. The anesthesiologist said gently, “I’m going to place a cannula on the back of your hand. It might sting a little.”
At that moment, a familiar hymn filled my heart:
"Have Thine own way, Lord,
Have Thine own way.
Thou art the Potter,
I am the clay..."
This melody of surrender calmed my nerves and allowed me to focus on God’s presence.
Resting Under God’s Shadow: A Verse for Comfort
As the anesthesia began to take effect, I recited Psalm 91:1:
"He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty."
In that moment, I felt completely safe, knowing I was resting in God’s care.
Post-Surgery Gratitude: Praising God for Healing
When I woke up, a nurse stood by my side and asked, “Are you awake?” Though groggy and weak, I managed a soft “Yes.” Moments later, the surgeon came in and said, “Your operation went well. There were a lot of stones, but we removed them all.”
In that sacred moment, I whispered, “Praise the Lord.”
Lessons from the Journey: Faith in Action
Reflecting on this experience, I am reminded of Psalm 107:1:
"Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever."
God turned what could have been a fearful ordeal into a testimony of His faithfulness. He went before me, surrounded me with peace, and worked through the hands of skilled professionals.
Encouragement for Others: Trust the Great Physician
If you face a challenge today, I encourage you to surrender it to God. Trust Him as your guide, healer, and protector. As Psalm 28:7 says:
"The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and I am helped."
This journey taught me the power of faith and the peace of
trusting God. My heart overflows with thanksgiving for His love, mercy, and healing.
“Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless His holy name” (Psalm 103:1).
May this story inspire you to trust the Great Physician in all circumstances, knowing that He holds your life in His hands.
