Racism is as bad as Terrorism

Do we respect people regardless of who they are? If yes then why do we judge people on the bases of their skin tone?  These are the kind of questions I ponder over anytime I come across an article on racism. It is a big issue in the society we live in, and there is the need to raise awareness.  I tell you, racism is a very destructive thing, which if not checked, is going to destroy a considerable number of people. Racism has resulted in people committing suicide, falling into depression, anxiety and so on. The word racism is an act of discrimination or prejudice based on race.
Why do we keep on discriminating when we know very well that we have the same color of blood flowing in us and bleed the same color out. No human being has blue or black blood which implies we are the same despite our skin color and differences. We are the same no matter which part of the continent we come from or where we grew up. In our journey of life, has there been a time when someone's race has influenced our decision to help them? Even when they were children?
I once visited a dermatologist and requested for cream for my dark, dry skin. She looked at me and said “we only have two skin types, the dry skin and the normal skin. There is no cream for dark, dry skin". I smiled and requested for the dry skin cream. Once, I was met with different feelings of experience, when the battery of my phone run out and was supposed to meet my daughter at a vantage point. At this point, I could not reach her, and the worst of it was the fact that I did not know her number off hand.  I asked help from some couple of passengers I was traveling with. Some refused for reasons best known to them. But I remember there were these two young guys who came to my aid, went to the extent of contacting the network providers for my daughter’s number. I appreciated that act of kindness so much. I just thought of how one renders help to others. Does it depend on skin color?
One thing we should have in mind is that we are all one. When we think highly of ourselves or our positions, make us believe we are better than others. That is when the hate starts and we tend to fight ourselves and think of destroying others. Trevor Noah says “there is nothing wrong with seeing color, how you treat it is what is essential. And as we all know, there is only one race, and that is the human race.
In conclusion, we should all learn from children the way they relate to each other despite their skin color. Don't judge one by his/her looks as we are all human beings and all lives matter.

  2. You're very correct, there's no need to raise awareness because people already know it. I wish they will see this wonderful piece written by you.
